CoM Summary - June 2008
A summary of proceedings at Council of Management (CoM) meeting held on 28th June 2008:
- Following the resignation of Bill Trite as Chairman of the Swanage Railway Trust at the Council of Management’s May meeting, the first item of business at our June meeting was the election of a new Chairman. Mike Whitwam was duly elected Chairman with Steve Doughty remaining Deputy Chairman.
- The dedication ceremony of Devon Belle Pullman Observation Car no. 14 was re-scheduled to take place on Wednesday 16th July.
- A sub-committee, comprising Andrew Moore, Mike Stollery, Bill Trite and Mark Woolley, would meet in order to fully review all accommodation requirements across premises on the Railway. This would include both operational needs and staff\volunteer facilities.
- It was agreed that Andy Vincent would represent the CoM at SRC Board meetings for the next three months.
- A new policy would be added to the SRT Policies document confirming that ownership of all work carried out by staff\volunteers on behalf of the Railway would be vested in the Trust or Company unless specifically agreed otherwise prior to work starting.
- A new fire alarm system is being installed at Corfe Castle station. This would incorporate the Museum in the former Goods Shed and the Churchill exhibition in due course.
- Detailed plans are being drawn up in respect of a proposed new 8 coach carriage shed to be situated on the Swanage side of Herston halt.
- A formal response to the Purbeck District Council Core Strategy would be submitted on behalf of the Railway.
