| | The Council of Management is the Trust's Board and is concerned more with strategy and fundraising with operational matters devolved to the trading subsidiary, the Swanage Railway Company. These notes provide an overview of some of the matters discussed this month. - A new recruitment campaign will be launched to increase the number of PLMs from the Purbeck area. There will be no net cost to the SRT.
- The Trust has been notified by SLL that work has commenced on the overhaul of the boiler for 257 Squadron and it was agreed that the first tranche of the money raised from the 2004 Draw would be released to SLL.
- It was noted that the financial impact on the SRC of transferring responsibility for the operational assets would need to be reflected in the SRC 2006 budget.
- Increasing the space available for coach overhauls was again considered as the situation develops. The balance between the cost of sending a coach away for overhaul against rent and rates was noted as an additional factor.
- Agreement in principle was reached that the 200 Club should direct fundraising towards the Corfe Castle signal box once the footbridge was fully funded. However, it was noted that there was not yet any commitment to building this box as the future operational needs were still being considered and that fundraising must reflect this.
- The Trust asked the SRC Board to reconsider their decision to cancel the Autumn 2006 Thomas event as they were unable to provide any financial justification for this decision, a situation which breached the SRC's own guidelines.
The next CoM meeting will take place at 2pm on Saturday 24th September. Further dates will be agreed after the AGM. |
