| | The Council of Management is the Trust's Board and is concerned more with strategy and fundraising with operational matters devolved to the trading subsidiary, the Swanage Railway Company. These notes provide an overview of some of the matters discussed this month. - The deaths of volunteers Ian Crofts and Ian Parsons were noted with sadness. Tribute was also paid to former long standing volunteer and ex CoM member Don Wright who died in early July.
- The CoM is looking for an eBay sales co-ordinator. If you are interested please contact Steve Doughty.
- It was confirmed that a better quality base, ideally a refurbished van, should be provided for the Sygnets.
- It was agreed that the 2008 Members Weekend would be titled ‘Railways At Work’ with the primary aim being to encourage ordinary members to become working volunteers. The date would be confirmed once Dorset school holiday dates had been released.
- A review of volunteer facilities is taking place.
- A number of goods vehicles currently located on the Railway will be leased to the North Dorset Railway Trust at Shillingstone at a nominal rent provided that they are maintained in a condition at least equal to their current one
- The Bluebell Railway are being approached to see if they are interested in acquiring the SR Walrus ballast hopper wagon.
- Steps are being taken to acquire a SR B van for use as a cycle store at Norden car park.
- It was agreed that, in principle, historic items held in the library and museum at Corfe Castle that did not conform with the specific objectives of the Swanage Railway Trust should be sold for the best available price and the funds used to further the Trust’s core aims and objectives.
The next CoM meeting will take place on Saturday 1st September 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Rectory Classroom, Church Hill, Swanage. An open forum to allow Members and volunteers to ask questions will be held prior to the start of formal business. |
