| | The Council of Management is the Trust's Board and is concerned more with strategy and fundraising with operational matters devolved to the trading subsidiary, the Swanage Railway Company. These notes provide an overview of some of the matters discussed this month. - Sales of 2007 Grand Draw tickets now totalled £3,600. Please continue to support this major fundraising initiative and help us reach our target of £20,000.
- The Bulleid brake coach no. 4365 is still off-site at Ramparts awaiting delivery of window frames and glass. It is now expected that 4365 will be back at Swanage during June. A preliminary application is to be made to the Heritage Lottery Fund under the ‘Your Heritage’ scheme in respect of the seating and trimming. A further application may be forthcoming in respect of the Maunsell push-pull set coaches.
- The CoM will be reconvening a special meeting to discuss volunteer issues – and in particular improvements to facilities – during June.
- A special ceremony to celebrate the awarding of the Westinghouse award for the restoration of Corfe Castle signalling will be held at Corfe on 11th June.
- 200 Club prize rates have been revised as follows: ten months at £50 (1st), £40 (2nd), £30 (3rd) £25 (4th) and £20 (5th). The June Midsummer draw would remain as at present, £150 (1st), £100 (2nd), £50 (3rd) £30 (4th) and £20 (5th). The prizes for the Christmas draw will be £250 (1st), £150 (2nd), £100 (3rd) £75 (4th), £50 (5th) and £25 (6th). In addition it was agreed that the annual/monthly subscription be increased from £12 (£1) to £15 (£1.25).
- Five SRT funded projects have been confirmed for the coming months:
- Connection agreement and installation of signalling at Motala,
- mess room on Herston bank,
- Harmans Cross down side building,
- Herston track relay and realignment and
- commencement of Corfe Castle new signal box (following completion of footbridge).
- Project Swanage (formerly known as the ‘Swanage Throat Project’) has now been divided into four components with component one – the track sub-base – scheduled for Winter 2007/08. Funding of this will be further discussed following confirmation of the estimate of costs involved.
- We will be looking into ways of securing grant aid or sponsorship for the restoration of the SK(H) coach.
