The Swanage Railway Trust

These notes provide an overview of some of the matters discussed this month.

• The 2006 Grand draw had so far raised a total exceeding £6,000. Volunteers were now covering four days a week so more help is still needed.
• The Annual Fete held on Spring Bank Holiday Monday in the grounds of the Purbeck House Hotel raised over £1500 for Trust funds. Many thanks to everyone who helped or supported this event.
• The Membership and volunteers functional group is currently reviewing Membership rates and benefits is taking place
• The CoM will be reconvening a special meeting to discuss volunteer issues – and in particular improvements to facilities – during July.
• The Trust’s website at www.swanagerailwaytrust.org.uk will be continuously updated. A meeting is also planned to take place with the administrators of www.71b.co.uk to discuss ways of better co-ordinating the various websites being used across the Railway.
• It is likely that an additional SR ‘B’ van will be acquired. This will primarily be used as a support vehicle for Bulleid brake coach no. 4365 when returns from Ramparts. Both vehicles will be stabled at the top of Swanage No. 2 siding.
• A request to the Portman Building Society asking them to consider launching a Swanage Railway affinity account has been declined. However, the Society have confirmed their willingness to consider sponsoring the Railway or making a cash donation to the Trust.
• An induction training package will be introduced for the benefit of future new CoM members – hopefully to be used in 2007. Similarly, nomination packs will be made available to anyone interested in seeking election to the Council – as opposed to blanket sending nomination forms to every Member. Notice of the availability of the packs will be placed in the Spring 2007 edition of Swanage Railway Magazine.
• The 2006 AGM of The Swanage Railway Trust will take place on Saturday 23rd September in the Mowlem Theatre starting at 2:00 p.m.

The next CoM meeting will take place on Saturday 29th July 2006 at 2:00 pm in the Rectory Classroom, Church Hill, Swanage.
