| | The Council of Management is the Trust's Board and is concerned more with strategy and fundraising with operational matters devolved to the trading subsidiary, the Swanage Railway Company. These notes provide an overview of some of the matters discussed this month. - The SRT Memorandum & Articles of Association state that the Secretary and Treasurer posts are permanent and should not be subject to an election of the membership. This is at variance with current practice. The details of how to bring practice into line with the constitution were finalised. The first stage will be that Mark Wooley would not be required to stand in this year's election.
- The deteriorating financial position of the Company was again considered. Ways of improving the Trust's fundraising record were considered to reduce the reliance on surpluses being transferred from the Company. A general improvement in fundraising is required if the Project is to achieve it's objectives.
- Options for Herston Works have narrowed to consideration of a temporary extension or reorganisation of the existing space. Changing units was felt to offer poor value.
- The Trust agreed to take over the lease on Swanage Station enabling the Company to initiate the transfer with the owner. This will reduce the overall cost of the lease as the Trust is a registered charity.
- The Trust agreed to place a contract with Rampart for work on the exterior of Bulleid coach 4365. This work will address the corrosion issues uncovered during earlier work.
Future CoM meetings will take place at 2pm on the following Saturdays: 30th July, 3rd September and 24th September. |
